Introduction to writing a Cochrane systematic review (Standard Author Training)
McMaster University, Hamilton
4-6 July 2014
This three-day workshop is designed for new authors starting a Cochrane systematic review. A mixture of presentations and hands-on sessions will give you an overview of all the methods required to write your protocol and get started on the review.
- Day 1 will cover scoping your review, the process of writing a protocol and searching the literature for included studies.
- Day 2 will cover assessing the risk of bias (critical appraisal) of your included studies, and begin an introduction to meta-analysis, common data types encountered in systematic reviews, and using the Review Manager software package.
- Day 3 will look at analysis of more complex study designs and data types, exploring and interpreting your results.
To register for this workshop, authors should have identified the topic for their review and registered the title (or be in the process of registering) with a Cochrane Review Group. Information about registering a title in Cochrane is available from the Canadian Cochrane Center.
